چکیده

Litter is the main source of ammonia (NH3) in broiler houses. The quality thereof affects amount NH3 volatilized and emitted from house as well welfare birds. A trial was conducted to determine how addition water litter (by spraying surface) raking or leaving undisturbed will influence concentrations at level, composition, bird welfare, performance under experimental conditions. total 2160 Ross 308 male broilers were divided into following 6 treatments, each with replicates 60 animals: NR(0) = no litter, added; R(0) NR(1.5) 1.5 L R(1.5) NR(3.0) 3.0 R(3.0) added. introduced 10 d age, a frequency 2 3 times per week. High litter moisture content suppresses litter ammonia volatilization.

With global food demand expected to increase by 100% in the next 50 yr, urgency to combine comprehensive strategies for sustainable, efficacious, and environmentally sensible agronomic practices has never been greater. One effort for US meat bird management is to reduce NH(3) volatilization from litter to create a better growing environment for the birds, improve production efficiency, retain N...

Influence of Moisture Content of Mulberry Leaf on Growth and Silk Production in Bombyx mori L.

The influence of moisture content of mulberry leaf on the growth, development and moisture build up in the body of silkworm was studied by feeding with different maturity leaves to late age of silkworm larvae. Significantly higher larval moisture (79.78%), larval weight (65.65 g), pupal moisture (73.81%) was recorded in top tender leaf (high moisture) fed batches and least was recorded in the c...

Evaluation of Ammonia Emissions from Broiler Litter

Ammonia (NH3) emissions from poultry litter results in air pollution and can cause high levels of NH3 in poultry houses, which negatively impacts bird performance. The objectives of this study were to: (1) conduct a nitrogen (N) mass balance in broiler houses by measuring the N inputs (bedding, chicks, and feed) and N outputs (birds marketed, mortality, litter/cake, NH3 emissions, and nitrous o...

Litter ammonia generation: moisture content and organic versus inorganic bedding materials.

Negative impacts on the environment, bird well-being, and farm worker health indicate the need for abatement strategies for poultry litter NH(3) generation. Type of bedding affects many parameters related to poultry production including NH(3) losses. In a randomized complete block design, 3 trials compared the cumulative NH(3) volatilization for laboratory-prepared litter (4 bedding types mixed...

Broiler litter ammonia emissions near sidewalls, feeders, and waterers.

Ammonia (NH3) volatilized from broiler litter diminishes indoor air quality, which can potentially decrease bird productivity. Emissions of NH3 exhausted from broiler houses pose environmental concerns for ecosystem biodiversity, aquatic nutrient enrichment, and particulate formation in the atmosphere. Research was conducted sampling litter (rice hull base) in 3 tunnel-ventilated commercial bro...
